The Spring and Summer of 2016 have been packed with powerful events across our country and the world. So it may seem odd but sometimes it is in times of uncertainty that we can benefit from returning to that effect our day to day business lives and that we have some control over.
A topic that I believe fits this description is our own struggles to make a good living as travel agents and how our trade association and more specifically our chapter supports and advances these efforts.
They are: 1. Networking and social interaction 2. Recognition and credibility 3. Keeping up to date 4. Education and professional development
Therefore ASTA Mid-America has:
1. Held 18 face to face meetings 2. Recognized over 30 agents with length of service pins and special awards 3. Brought our members together with key vendors in 4 trade shows held in 4 major geographic areas across our chapter 4. Initiated a program for professional development through the Travel Institute, to help our members achieve their CTA designations. Fourteen (14) members are enrolled and we expect this number will double this year.
We all have our own specific set of objectives for the remainder of 2016 so each of us must continue moving toward those goals and make this a good year for our businesses and families.
We at ASTA Mid-America will attempt to do likewise on behalf of our members.

To be an organization for Travel Professionals that is open to new ideas and initiatives, where members can share useful information, develop valuable business contacts, build friendships with peers and experience a broad range of educational opportunities including specific product knowledge, newest business trends and personal skill building, all in an environment which is both positive and energizing. We believe that by creating this type of experience members will not only be retained but will become more active and new members will be drawn to associate with successful people who are executing and achieving important industry objectives.
